CHA Leadership Shares Positive Message for the Future at Town Hall Meeting

Cape Henry Associates owner and founder, Bill Allen, and the company’s executive staff hosted their semi-annual Town Hall meeting for 150 employees at the Town Center City Club in Virginia Beach May 3. The all-hands event featured a kick-off opening conversation with Mr. Allen, and included presentations by Chief Executive Officer Jon Drews, Chief Revenue Officer Chuck Wythe, and Chief Operating Officer John Jackson. Mr. Allen stressed, “The most important thing to me personally is that we provide all of you with a career, not a contract. We are absolutely committed to filling our pipeline with work to keep everyone employed for as long as they want to be here. I want folks to enjoy coming to work and we strive for a collegial and respectful atmosphere.” Three themes evolved throughout the event: “Pride” in where the company came from and what it is doing for our Armed Forces, “Success” in executing the Cape Henry Associates 2016 Strategic Plan, and “Opportunities” for the company looking forward.

The event was well-attended and well-received. “I walked out last night motivated and proud to be part of this team,” shared Danielle Holmes of Cape’s Business Development team. The sentiment resonated among many of the employees as the presentation finished with 10 employees receiving $500 “Bravo Zulu” awards for performance above and beyond expectations. “Bravo Zulu” is an at-sea Navy flag hoist by the Admiral in charge of a given operation indicating a job well done. It’s a fitting tradition carried on at Cape Henry Associates as the company is made up of 75 percent military veterans.

“Communication with the people doing the hard work and delivering quality products to those following in our footsteps defending our country is critical to our success,” shared Mr. Drews. “I want all of us to know what’s going on so that we can all carry the same message and swim in the same direction.” He continued, “We are going for ISO 2015 certification this fall, and I believe Cape Henry will be one of the very first companies in Hampton Roads to accomplish this intensive new standard. We can only achieve milestones like that if we’re all informed and empowered to do our jobs.”
